Screencasting as well as learning is quite easy in Autodesk Inventor

As I have mentioned earlier in my FB post screencasting in Autodesk Inventor is easy for me when I compare it with other CAD softwares. I am giving the reasons why. 

While using the software, you will witness, it speaks out itself and tell how to use software in a very convenient manner, it gives hints of operating tools which are very easy to follow. See the images below….

The image demonstrates that symmetric constraint tool is active in 2D sketching and I am going to apply it on displayed sketches..... see how software speaks out and tell the way to operate the tool along side of the mouse pointer.

This facility is not available in SolidWorks, Creo or Siemens Nx. They only give hints on status bar which viewers not able to see many a times. One thing more the hints are very clear and easy to understand.

Conclusion 

When software is speaking out itself, then I do not have to narrate much about what is being done and why?
The other benefit of this utility is if somebody is learning on its own these hints are very helpful in learning.

What is (Mechanical Engineering ) CAD software?

This description is for general people. I am starting my description with very simple example so that any person can understand about CAD softwares.

All of us know what is a rectangle and how to create it, since our school days. But see now, how easily a rectangle can be created in CAD software that is used by a CAD designers on the following

There are many software in this field. I have used Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks , Siemens NX and Creo Parametric my self that is why I recommend them for such work.
The models are created on computer before manufacturing, every thing is analyzed (weight, material, mass, cost etc). The models can be modified at any moment . Then the final output is manufactured by factory using CAM software.
There are CAD (Computer Aided Designing) software which witch are integrated with CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software.

Using the Inventor 2012 Full Help Offline

I wanted to assess the Autodesk Inventor Default Help offline so I asked my question on the official forum and found the solution. If anyone wants to do the same follow the following steps.

First you  have to downloaded and installed the Inventor 2012 Full Help from here. But It will not open form Autodesk  Inventor by default. Only online Wiki help will open.

The first solution is you can simply create a shortcut on your desktop and have it point to, for instance:<install folder> \Inventor 2012\Help_Full \index.html

But if you want to access  the help from within the context of the product or from within a dialog, do the following.

Edit the file <install folder> \Inventor 2012\Bin\HelpIds.xml in Notepad

Find the string “UseOnline”

Change the value from 1 to 0 and save the file.

Restart Inventor.

Note. Be aware that by downloading and using the help on a local drive, you have chosen to work with a snapshot version of the Help that possibly is out-of-date, contrary to the Wiki help which at all times shows the most up-to-date help information
So, if you want to go back to the default behavior, that is, to use the help from the Wiki when you are on-line, setback the value for “UseOnline” to 1
